1900+ cases reported in Kathmandu valley back-to-back

KATHMANDU, APRIL 27

Nepal's daily reported cases shot up on Tuesday as 4364 infections were logged from across the country.

This is the second time after October 23, 2020, wherein 4499 people were infected on a single day, that over 4000 cases have been detected here.

The countrywide Covid-19 count has stepped on to 307,925 after the latest update.

Of the newly infected, 1,774 are females and 2,590 are males.

Meanwhile, antigen tests confirmed 160 positives in the past 24 hours. As such, total infections from both RT-PCR and antigen tests added up to 4,524 today.

Of the total cases that surfaced in the last 24 hours, Kathmandu district holds the highest number of new infections -- 1,602. Lalitpur reported 240 cases whereas 124 new cases were reported from Bhaktapur.

Likewise, 555 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.

As of today, 278,506 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate from the disease stands at 90.5 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 26,225.

The nationwide death-toll has reached 3,194 with 18 Covid-related fatalities reported today.

According to the health ministry, 15,681 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 14,672 were PCR tests while 1,009 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,432,989 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 58 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Monday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 303,561 with 3,442 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 148 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 126 million people have recovered while more than 19 million cases are still active.
