Nepali Army's 27 Number Brigade and Shree Shreenath Battalion under the Eastern Command Headquarters and Reiyukai Eiko Masunaga Eye Hospital have jointly launched a free health camp with the aim to reducing cataract problem in Dhanusha.

The campaign that started on March 8 will last till March 11. So far, as many as 145 people have undergone cataract surgery at the camp.

Of them, 32 have undergone surgery using new technology without bandage while 113 have undergone cataract surgery with bandage.

The camp is treating around 200 patients with eye ailments on a daily basis.

Reiyukai Eiko Masunaga Eye Hospital General Secretary Hiramani Sharma said they were planning to treat 2,000 people with eye issues and up to 800 people would undergo surgery.

Madhes Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut visited the health camp and appreciated the Nepali Army and eye hospital's work.

Brigadier General Hemraj KC of 27 No Brigade complimented the eye hospital and Nepali Army's work.

KC said the Nepali Army would launch free health camp in a bid to alleviate the problem of cataract across the country.

Sharma said the Nepali Army had been helping the hospital since its establishment at Dhalkebar in Dhanusha.
