NRA CEO takes stock of reconstruction

Dolakha, April 25

The Chief Executive Officer of National Reconstruction Authority Govinda Raj Pokharel arrived in Dolakha today to take stock of the earthquake victims’ situation, exactly two years after the devastating Gorkha earthquake rattled the country in April 25, 2015.

During his monitoring, he interacted with quake victims of different villages and urged their help to make the reconstruction drive a success. “The state is always ready to help, but it’s the locals duty to take initiatives in order to complete this mega reconstruction campaign,” he said.  Pokharel monitored the buildings of Gurjapa Lower Secondary School and Jalpashwori Secondary School in Kalinchowk Rural Municipality, in the northern part of district. He also monitored an under-construction health post building in Babare, Kalinchowk Rural Municipality and ordered construction be halted citing violation of state criteria.

HURADEK Nepal Dolakha is constructing the building with financial support from Plan International Nepal.

The NRA chief visited Sunkhani, Sundrawati, Babare, Lapilang and Lamidanda, among other places, to observe the reconstruction process. He distributed the second instalment of housing grant worth Rs 16 million to 105 quake victims of Orang and Bulung in Bigu Rural Municipality.

He claimed that 40 per cent of the reconstruction will be finished by the end of this fiscal.
