Tanahun man held for defrauding women who he befriended on Facebook

KATHMANDU: A man, who allegedly befriended women on Facebook and defrauded them after they went to see him, has been arrested from Devghat VDC of Tanahun district, police said.

The suspect is Mohan Bahadur Pata Magar (27) of Pipaltar, Ramjakot VDC-2 in Tanahun district.

Posing himself as a rich man, the con man told his gullible targets that he owned a house in Ram Bazar Pokhara and two microbuses on Kathmandu-Pokhara route to woo them, according to police. He even claimed that his father served in the British Army.

It has been revealed that the "prince charming" swindled at least three damsels of ornaments made up of six tola gold.

The victims, aged between 20 and 32,   are residents of different parts of Tanahun, according to Sub Inspector of Police (SI) Manoj Pandey at the District Police Office (DPO).

One of them is said to be a Bandipur-based school teacher.
