SYANGJA: A group of YCL cadres last night allegedly assaulted five cadres of the Matrika-led CPN-Maoist, including the district in-charge, Bhim Prasad Chapagain, at Thumpokhara-6, Bhaisekhola, in Syangja.

According to the Matrika-led party, its cadres were assaulted while they were engaged in the party's work in Chapagain's house.

Besides the district in-charge, Hemkanta Chapagain, Laxman Prasad Chapagain, Ghanashyam Chapagain and Krishna Prasad Chapagain were injured in the assault. According to the Ward Police Office, Waling, seriously injured Ghanashyam and Krishna Prasad have been sent to Pokhara for treatment.

The injured are undergoing treatment in a primary health centre in Waling.

Meanwhile, the Matrika-led CPN-Maoist, in a press release today, condemned the attack and demanded stern action against the culprits.
