Himalayan Sherpa Club advanced to the semi-finals of the 13th Jagdamba Jitpur-Simara Gold Cup Football Tournament here at the Simara Stadium today.

HSC came from a goal down to beat fellow A division outfit Satdobato Youth Club 2-1 in the quarter-final match. Sushil Rai and Abayomi scored for HSC after skipper Sudip Gurung had put the Martyrs Memorial A Division League leaders SYC ahead.

SYC skipper Gurung opened the scoring in the match after he capitalised on defensive error from Myanu Alnana in the 35th minute.

Gurung met the ball after Alnana failed to clear an attempt from Pasang Lama and slammed home. Sushil Rai levelled the scores in the first half injury time when he found the back of the nets from the box following a pass from Abayomi.

Abayomi sealed the victory for HSC with a spectacular header on a cross from Satyam Sharma goal moments before the final whistle. The winners of the second edition of the tournament, HSC will face Makawanpur-XI on Wednesday for a place in the final. HSC's Abayomi was named the player of the match and he received Rs 10,000.

Earlier, SYC's Sushil Lama wasted a chance in the 12th minute after he shot over the bar on a pass from William.

In the 22nd minute, HSC goalkeeper Kishor Giri made a brilliant save to stop William's free kick, while Niraj Chaudhary shot wide from the box six minutes later.

Chaudhary failed to score in the open nets after HSC goalkeeper Giri was beaten in the 74th minute.

At the other end, Bishwas Shrestha struck against the cross bar in the fifth minute, while Nishan Limbu hit the post three minutes later following a pass from Shrestha.

SYC goalkeeper Nishan Thapa Magar made two brilliant saves. He denied Bishwas Shrestha in the 31st minute on a pass from Nishan Limbu, while Thapa Magar punched out Sushil Rai's powerful shot following a corner from Shrestha in the 55th minute.

On Tuesday, Church Boys United will play against APF Football Club in the last quarter-final match.
