Shooting in Mexican resort of Ixtapa kills 4, wounds 2

MEXICO CITY: State officials say gunmen have opened fire at a bar in the Mexican resort of Ixtapa, leaving four people dead and two injured.

The security spokesman for the southern state of Guerrero says the shooting happened early Saturday.

Roberto Alvarez says initial investigations indicate the shooting broke out between members of two rival drug gangs who were at the bar.

Alvarez says there's no indication the shooting is related to extortion attempts that have plagued the twin resorts of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo on the Pacific coast.

The dead appeared to have been residents of Zihuatanejo, where much of the recent violence has been concentrated.
