Kathmandu, February 6
Sanjeev Nepali and Santoshi Shrestha won the 5,000m gold medals in the Golden Athletics Meet here at the Dasharath Stadium today.
Nepal APF Club athlete Nepali completed the race in 15 minutes and 56.03 seconds to finish first in men's section.
Nepal Police Club duo Santosh Nath Yogi (15:56.07) and Prakash Singh (16:02.7) came second and third respectively.
The 13th South Asian Games gold medallist, Shrestha from Dhading won women's section race with the timing of 17:37.9, while NPC athletes Ram Maya Budha (18:44.3) and Rekha Bista (18:45.7) finished second and third respectively.
Shiva Raj Parki and Nisha Chaudhary won gold medals in 200m race. APF athlete Parki finished first in 22.37 seconds, while his teammate Nir Pratap Mahati came second in 22.81 seconds and Kathmandu's Arun Mahato Tharu was third in 23.05 seconds. Dang's Chaudhary won women's section race in 25.71 seconds, while APF's Ramita Kumari Tharu was second in 26.72 seconds and NPC's Laxmi Saud came third in 28.46 seconds.
In 800m, Tej Bahadur Karki and Fulmati Rana won gold medals. NPC athlete Karki came first in one minute and 58.4 seconds, while his teammate Nageshwor Ayer came second in 1:58.9 and Kushal Jaishi of Sudurpashchim was third in 2:03.9. APF clean swept women's race. Rana came first in 2:23.5, finishing ahead of her teammates Asha Raut (2:29.3) and Sima Chaudhary (2:32.4).
Nepal APF Club won 4X400m mixed relay gold medal with the timing of three minutes and 44.4 seconds, while Lumbini Province bagged silver in 3:44.7 and NPC came third in 4:11.8.
Salim Dewan and Sima Chaudhary won triple jump gold medals. APF athletes dominated the men's section with Dewan finishing first with the distance of 13.48m, while his teammates Chandra Dev Joshi (13.45) and Ram Kumar Lamichhane (13.35) came second and third respectively.
NPC's Chaudhary came first in women's section with the distance of 10.29 metres, whereas APF's Ranjita Rai (9.86) and NPC's Sumitra Kumari Chaudhary (9.45) finished second and third respectively.
Likewise, APF athletes Ramesh Pokhrel (52.55m) and Manoj Dangura (49.64m) won gold and silver respectively in men's javelin throw, while NPC's Puskal Khadka bagged bronze with a distance of 44.36 metres.
Chandrakala Lamgade of NPC won women's section gold with 42.13 metres, finishing ahead of APF athletes Sima Kumari Tharu (40.19m) and Basanti Chaudhary (31.73m).
NPC athletes Puskal Khadka (11.74m) and Rupesh Bhandari (10.30m) won gold and silver medals respectively in men's shot put, while APF's Milan Chaudhary claimed bronze with 9.78 metres. NPC's Chandrakala Lamgadhe won women's section gold with a distance of 11.97m, finishing ahead of her teammate Basanti Chaudhary (9.66m) and Gorkha's Manju Gurung (8.75).
Tej Bahadur Karki of NPC and Nisha Chaudhary of Lumbini were declared the best athletes of the Meet organised by Athletics Family of Nepal.
A total of 300 players took part in the two-day Meet - supported by National Sports Council, Nepal Athletics Association and Bagmati Province Sports Development Council - that featured 27 track and field events.
