The new framework will be jointly prepared by the Government of Nepal and the UN Country Team, aligned with Nepal's Sixteenth Plan and LDC transition.Dr Bhatta acknowledged the UN's support in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), mobilising financing, advancing climate action and strengthening institutions. He said Nepal's demographic dividend, digital transformation, clean energy potential and diaspora networks could drive long-term prosperity, stressing that the next framework should be ambitious and evidence-based.The committee also reviewed achievements under the current framework, including the Climate Change Financing Framework, NDC 3.0, the Living Sagarmatha Mountain Resilience Strategy, anticipatory disaster response, a national school meal programme linked to local agriculture, expanded skills training for women and youth, private sector development, and progress in addressing child marriage, gender-based violence and electoral assistance.Joint efforts have also strengthened Nepal's health system through rubella elimination, kala-azar control and immunisation programmes targeting millions of children and adolescent girls.With fewer than five years remaining to achieve the 2030 SDGs and Nepal's LDC graduation approaching, discussions focused on accelerating women's economic participation, creating decent jobs for youth, promoting entrepreneurship and SMEs, and advancing climate-resilient, digitally driven growth.UN Resident Coordinator Yahia said accelerating SDG progress would strengthen resilience and Nepal's smooth transition from LDC status, stressing greater investment in women, youth, entrepreneurship, climate resilience and digital transformation.
